Hey Facebook: – Why Does Discover New Games Tell My Friends I Have Played Games I Have Not?

I’m writing this report to document a strange issue I have encountered on the Facebook platform over the last few days. The issue involves a new Suggestion Type heading, called “Discover New Games“, which I believe appeared on my Facebook profile a few days ago. I am assuming this new section is suppose to help you or encourage you to explore new apps or games that your friends are using or have been using.
The Problem is: The Discover New Games section keeps lying to me and my friends about what apps or games I or them are currently using on the platform. Below I have included a few screenshots that will show you the issue. The first 2 show you the Apps and Games I and my friend (Tony Mazan) have installed on our Facebook Profiles currently. The screenshots after that will show the “Discover New Games” heading and how it appears to be misleading us on the games either of us are currently playing on Facebook.

I personally have not installed any new Facebook Apps for about 6 months or more. The apps you see in my dashboard have been on my account for at least 2 or more years. You can also see that out of the 4 I have, I’ve only use 1 recently. About 3 or 4 months ago I did remove a few other apps I had installed, but those apps are not the ones you are about to see The Discover New Games section suggest to 2 of my friends. It clearly tells them “I PLAY” games I don’t and never have. NOTE: I have blurred MY name in the screenshots below.

The screenshots below show the Discover New Games section telling me my friend Tony currently plays games he does not. After asking Tony about these suggestions, Tony explained to me that the games where ones he had played 6 months to a year or more ago. He stated that he removed the games from his account a long time ago. Screenshot #1 shows that Tony DOES NOT have these games installed.

I am fairly certain that Facebook has not designed the Discover New Games section to mislead Facebook users about what games and apps their friends are playing. However it is misleading people and it is an issue I think they need to fix as soon as possible. I personally don’t want their platform misleading my friends about the apps or games I play there and I’m certain many others will feel the same.
Have you experienced Facebook using your friends names to suggest games, apps or other things to you that your friends assure you they have not used or done? If so, please let The BULLDOG Estate know about it by sending and email with proof of the incident to support@thebulldogestate.com .

Note: All users should ask their friends directly if they play or are using any of the apps or games Facebook is displaying in the Discover New Games section, to them. Do not assume the section is providing truthful information. As a Rule of Thumb you should always thoroughly review all apps and games before you install them on your Facebook account.
