FACEBOOK PHISHING SCAM ALERT – Updated

<< FACEBOOK PHISHING SCAM ALERT >>

A new phishing attack is currently being circulated on Facebook. This new type of attack will not just try to steal your Facebook credentials; it will also try to steal credit card information and other important information such as security questions. The stolen information will then be used to login to the compromised account and change both profile picture and name. The profile picture will be changed to the Facebook logo and the name will be translated to “facebook Security” but containing special ascii characters replacing letters such as “a” “k” “S” and “t”.

Facebook Security, the REAL ONE, does not send chat box or inbox messages to ANY Facebook member while they are on Facebook. They will NEVER ask you to click links that take you to Non- Facebook.com URLS to confirm your account information. They NEVER ask you to disclose your email address & password. They also NEVER send ANY unsolicited emails.

<< SCAM ALERT – Free Gift Card Scams >>
(Click Picture To Enlarge)

There are now 14 free gift card scams currently making their way around Facebook, (McDonalds, Amazon, Southwest & Applesbee’s ARE The New Ones For Today).  Information on 7 of these scams is listed below. The remaining 7 are basically the same, so no need to reinvent the wheel here. If you get drawn in by the bogus offer you will end up being led to websites that try to trick you into *Sharing* the spam, then *Liking* some random fan page. Finally you will be told you need to complete surveys/offers to receive the imaginary card. You may also be asked to install malicious browser plugins that will use your browser to compromise your facebook account, and caused it to repeatedly spam the people in your friends list. Please share this message with friends to help them avoid getting trapped by these scams.

Remember: You should approach ALL free gift card offers on Facebook with CAUTION. If you can’t find the particular offer on the Retailers main website or Facebook fan page you should AVOID the offer.

Subscribe to The BULLDOG Estate by Email

<< 30 Fake “Facebook Security” Fan Pages >>

The attached photo shows the URL’s of 30 Fake Facebook Security Fan Pages. I have chosen to provide the URLs in the form of a picture to help reduce the chances of any users visiting the pages and inadvertently “Liking” and or “Joining” them. These pages do nothing but provide scam artists with the means to steal Facebook Accounts. If they are not actively doing it, they will end up doing it sooner or later. These pages are not affiliated with the real Facebook Security and have been created by “Joe Scammer”. If you are sent a link to one of these pages via: Email, News Feed, Chat, Facebook PM, Web Link or any other form of communication please do not respond to the communication. Instead, report the communication as spam/ Phishing and then immediately DELETE IT.

<< ALERT >>
Be on the lookout for FAKE Facebook notifications via email. I received the one shown in the attached photo either last night or this morning. It’s a pretty good fake, but if you know what to look for, it’s easy to spot as a fake..

Note the FAKE Facebook notification in this Photo leads to Pharmacy Spam. If you get it too, mark it as spam and delete it..

The Attached photo contains 11 spam messages I caught floating around on Facebook in the last hour. Every message in the photo IS SPAM and if YOU should happen to see ANY of them pop up in your news feed, DO NOT CLICK on ANY of them. They either lead to viruses, Bogus Surveys or something else you don’t want to get involved in.
