If you accept the request you will be transferred to the Application drop page show below.

At this point you are told to click Connect and then Allow to get some free gold bars for the game. However, if you follow these instructions you will only be leading yourself further down the scam artist’s dark tunnel. Once you click anywhere on the above image you be be taken to the “Request For Permission” screen you see below.

As we can see above, the “Application Request For Permission” screen for “COW Offers” prompts users to give it a particular set of permission. With this set of “Permissions” it will be able to do the following:
  1. Access to your basic profile information and (Anything ) you have set viewable to (Everyone).
The important thing here is that you stop and look at these application screens. You should not blindly install applications to your facebook profile. Some applications request a whole bunch permissions because once you click allow the app will spam messages to your wall and your friends news feeds, without your knowledge. This particular scam however uses a different approach. Once you click allow on the above screen you are then shown the following page which tells you to “Invite” 25 Friends to receive the Gold Bars. See Below.

I guess at this point the scam artist lost interest in his own scam. He didn’t really explain “how to” invite your friends. Maybe he figured people would simply know that clicking anywhere on the above image would open a “Suggest or Invite Your Friends Dialog” like the one below..

Example ( City Of Wonder Free Gold Bars Invite Friends Dialog ) – Click to Enlarge
You are now asked to do the scam artist’s job for him. He wants you to manually spam your own friends with a request stating you’ve received some gold. Odd, you haven’t received anything yet and in the next step to this long-winded scam you will see you’re not going too. Finally, after spamming your friends, you are told to simple click one more button to claim your FREE GOLD. See Below..

Once you click the “Claim Now” button a new tab or window opens in your web browser and reveals a Survey Scam. See below.
Example ( City Of Wonder Free Gold Bars One Last Step ) – Click to Enlarge

On this page you are shown that you must do a short survey to “Access The Content” you were offered on the first screen of the scam. This is nothing more than a ploy to get you to download a product or do a Survey for which a scammer will be paid. This is not a legitimate process or app and you will Never receive free game currency by jumping through these hoops. It is advised that you AVOID THIS SCAM.
